About the Role

Empire Farm Labor Contractor LLC needs six First-Line Supervisors of Farming to run crews across a busy vegetable operation. If you’ve already spent time managing agricultural workers and you know your way around crops like broccoli, celery, lettuce or Brussels sprouts, this role hands you real responsibility from day one.

You won’t just be watching over a field. You’ll direct planting, watering, chemical application and harvesting through your own subordinate supervisors, and you’ll keep everything lined up with management, HR, agronomy, equipment maintenance and the packing house. It’s a coordination job as much as a hands-on one.

Safety sits at the center of the role. You’ll monitor crews to make sure they’re following safety rules, issue warnings when needed, check worker locations several times a day and report injuries the moment they happen. You’ll also manage the H-2A time clock, making sure hours, rest breaks and meal breaks all get recorded and taken correctly.

Housing and transport fall under your watch too. You’ll manage rides between worker housing and the fields, keep living areas clean, flag housing issues fast and make sure vehicles stay in good shape with fluids checked regularly.

  • ✓
Direct and coordinate crews through subordinate supervisors on planting, watering, chemical application and harvesting
  • ✓
Schedule work crews, equipment and transportation across multiple job sites

  • ✓
Track H-2A employee hours, rest breaks and meal breaks accurately
  • ✓
Handle disciplinary communication and written actions when safety rules are broken
  • ✓
Manage portable toilets, record books for food safety and equipment tracking
  • ✓
Calculate anticipated crop production by field and by workday
  • ✓
Keep vehicles fueled, cleaned and properly maintained

Qualifications

  • ✓
At least 12 months of verifiable agricultural supervisor experience within the past two years

Hands-on experience with crops like Bok Choy, Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Cauliflower, Celery, Green Leaf, Iceberg Lettuce, Napa Cabbage, Romaine Lettuce or Red Leaf Lettuce
  • ✓
Comfort working outdoors in changing weather conditions
  • ✓
Solid record-keeping and data analysis skills for crop yield reporting
  • ✓
Ability to understand English or Spanish, since both languages get used on-site
  • ✓
Willingness to attend a paid mandatory orientation before starting
