Bonnie Plants is looking for Light Truck Drivers to help move and deliver agricultural products from its Beeville, Texas operation to markets within a 180-mile radius. This is a hands-on seasonal position that combines professional driving with loading, unloading, greenhouse support and basic truck care.
The role is listed as full-time at approximately 48 hours per week, with a stated work schedule of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The current work order runs from December 1, 2026 through July 31, 2027, although daily or weekly hours can change because of weather, crop conditions, temperature and other operational factors.
About the Role
This isn’t a driving-only job. You’ll help get Bonnie Plants’ products safely from the greenhouse to market while keeping the delivery vehicle and loads in good condition.
The main vehicle is a 26-foot straight truck with a gross vehicle weight capacity below 26,001 pounds. Delivery routes can cover locations within a 180-mile radius of the primary worksite. You’ll also perform shuttle driving, which involves taking a loaded truck to a predetermined meeting point, exchanging trucks and returning with an empty truck to the greenhouse.
Bonnie Plants is a large U.S. greenhouse grower that supplies vegetable and herb plants through a nationwide network. Its official company information says it operates more than 70 growing stations and serves the 48 contiguous states, so the position supports a much larger distribution operation than a typical local delivery route.
Primary Responsibilities
As a Light Truck Driver, you’ll handle a mix of driving, vehicle checks and plant-handling duties. Your main responsibilities can include:
- Driving a 26-foot straight delivery truck to market locations within approximately 180 miles of the worksite.
- Fueling and maintaining the delivery truck for safe operation.
- Completing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including checking tires, fluids and fuel.
- Reporting vehicle problems to the Station Manager as soon as they’re identified.
- Performing minor maintenance and repairs when necessary.
- Following Department of Transportation requirements, including driving logs and hours-of-service rules.
- Loading and unloading rolling carts, plants and racks using loading areas, docking bays and lift gates.
- Moving rolling carts weighing approximately 100 to 460 pounds across loading areas and uneven surfaces.
- Loading plants onto delivery trucks and unloading products at market locations.
- Checking plant moisture and watering plants when necessary before delivery.
- Removing plants that don’t meet the required size or health standards.
- Properly disposing of removed plants and stacking trays for future reuse.
- Helping with preseason equipment preparation, rack construction, painting, display preparation and end-of-season teardown.
Qualifications
The employer requires at least 2 months of greenhouse or nursery experience. Because this position includes delivery driving, applicants must also satisfy the employer’s insurance requirements.
You need a valid driver’s license issued by a U.S. state or a valid U.S. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), or an acceptable international equivalent. A CDL is accepted but isn’t specifically required for this position.
The insurance requirements also include being at least 21 years old and having at least 3 years of driving experience. You’ll also need enough English proficiency to communicate effectively, read and understand traffic signs, and interact with roadway officials.
Licences & Requirements
- Minimum 2 months of greenhouse or nursery experience.
- At least 3 years of driving experience.
- Minimum age of 21.
- Valid U.S. driver’s licence, CDL, or acceptable international equivalent.
- Ability to communicate, read traffic signs and understand roadway instructions in English.
- Ability to safely drive and operate company vehicles.

- Ability to follow DOT requirements and company safety procedures.
A drug and alcohol test may be conducted after hiring at the employer’s expense. The job listing states that this testing isn’t part of the interview process.

Visa & Work Authorization
This vacancy includes an H-2A wage rate, and the job order specifically lists H-2A workers among the workers who may perform the role. However, immigration approval isn’t automatic simply because a job is listed with an H-2A wage.
If you’re applying from outside the United States, confirm your eligibility and the employer’s current recruitment and visa process directly with Bonnie Plants before making travel arrangements. Your application should clearly explain your work authorization status and relevant driving experience.
Applicants should also understand that the job is seasonal. The current order covers December 1, 2026 through July 31, 2027, so you shouldn’t assume that the position leads automatically to permanent employment or another visa after the season ends.

It’s particularly suited to applicants who can handle physical loading work as well as driving. You’ll need to move carts weighing up to 460 pounds, work around loading equipment, inspect vehicles and stay alert on delivery routes.
When preparing your application, highlight your driving history, greenhouse or nursery experience, licence status, years of driving experience and any experience with delivery trucks, loading equipment or agricultural products.
