Caregiver jobs in New Zealand can offer a practical route into the country’s aged-care sector, and this Nelson position includes visa support for candidates who meet the additional qualification requirements. You’ll work full-time at Tasman Rest Home and Dementia Care, with a minimum of 30 hours each week and hourly pay ranging from NZ$23.95 to NZ$28.25 depending on your qualification level.

About the Role

Tasman Rest Home and Dementia Care is part of Dementia Care NZ, an aged-care provider focused on person-centred support for older people and people living with dementia. The organisation has developed its own “Small Homes” and “Best Friends” approaches, designed to make care feel more familiar, personal, and connected.

As a Caregiver, you’ll work directly with residents in a warm residential setting. Your day-to-day work will focus on personal care, mobility, communication, meals, and other activities that help residents remain comfortable and involved in daily life.

You’ll also work alongside registered nurses and other care staff. That means you’ll need to notice changes in a resident’s condition, communicate concerns quickly, and keep resident records accurate and up to date. For people living with dementia, you’ll follow individual care and therapy plans and provide support that respects their needs and abilities.

This is a permanent full-time position with a minimum of 30 hours per week. Because aged care operates around the clock, you must be comfortable working different shifts across a 24/7 roster, including the possibility of weekends and other rostered periods.
