Software Engineer, Critical Engineering
Full-time role with Optiver, a global market maker, based in Sydney, Australia.
Software Engineer jobs at Optiver in Sydney are open now, offering visa sponsorship, a genuine relocation package, and a shot at working on the systems behind one of the world’s biggest trading firms.
About the Role
Optiver is a global market maker that’s been trading since 1986, running out of Amsterdam, London, Chicago, Austin, New York, Sydney, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taipei and Mumbai. Close to 2,000 people work there, and Sydney runs as Optiver’s APAC head office, trading actively across Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and Japan.
You’d join the Critical Engineering APAC team, the group that builds and runs the systems underneath Optiver’s entire trading stack. That stack processes huge volumes of data, prices thousands of instruments and makes millions of trading decisions a day, all in real time. Your job sits right underneath that, covering real-time risk controls, reference data, trade-lifecycle infrastructure and trading-integrity systems.
This is hands-on C++ work on globally distributed services. You won’t just write code and hand it off, you’ll own slices of the platform end-to-end, from the architecture decisions through to production support. If something breaks or slows down, you’re the one improving it.
Optiver flexes seniority around the quality of your engineering rather than a strict years-on-paper cutoff, so strong problem-solvers with three-plus years of experience genuinely have a shot here.
